An Emotional Day Today
Today as been an emotional day, reflecting on failures and victories of the past year, supporting RLI's President as she prepares for the impending death of her 96 yr. old grandmother she has soley cared for the last ten years and then a special phone call happens. Sasha Poell had the fun job of calling our 4 Cash for Christmas winners ( I just get to write the checks). When she dialed one of the winners she learned that that member had no money to buy gifts for their children and that the money they won from RLI would allow Christmas to happen. Tears began to roll down my cheeks then and again now as I share the story. You see that is "THE" reason RLI was founded, to change lives and make a difference. I was reminded that God NEVER shows up late and that He directs our paths even when it comes to drawing names out of the hat for a contest. Sasha was crying , I was crying and I reminded her that these are the reasons that her and I do what we do everyday. Every sacrifice has been worth it. Then I read a story on facebook how one of our great members Gary Herd gave money to every single person in his chapter today and asked them to give it to someone in need. Are you kidding? This is the company I get to lead? I feel so unworthy and yet blessed at the same time. I get asked all the time what makes RLI so different? And I always say "it is the special people we have attracted". Thank you to all of my members for your generosity and for your open examples of God's love. I am humbled by your actions and could not be any more proud of each and everyone of you
